Established in 1989, Specialty & Ball Valve Engineering, Inc. continues the 30 year old tradition of the Dynaflow ball valve line. We have evolved into a network of fluids and technical specialists. In addition to our in- house experts, SBVE calls upon individuals with expertise in such diverse areas as acoustics and mechanisms, thermal and stress analysis, software development, materials research, machining, test, and inspection.
The SBVE quality system operates in accordance with MIL-I-45208A, but exceeds these requirements to certify Level I/Subsafe for U.S. Navy hardware. In July 1997, SBVE successfully completed its registration audit and has been "recommended for certification to ISO 9001." Full Registration is anticipated in early September.
Our valves are produced to some of the most exacting quality standards in the industry. In addition to the Dynaflow manual valve line, SBVE can supply a variety of pneumatic, electro-mechanical, electro-magnetic or hydraulic actuators. Because our valves are designed with low friction trunnion bearings, actuator torque requirements are quite low. This helps reduce size, weight and cost of actuated valves. Using one of our one-inch valves with 5000 psi line pressure, breakout torque is only 85 inch-pounds. This is with Navy seat materials used for over 30 years. By substituting more modern materials, we can reduce breakout torque even further.
Working closely with your engineers we will help you select the correct valve and actuator combination for your application. Specialty & Ball Valve Engineering is developing new applications for Dynaflow valves and building partnerships to develop new elastomers and actuators for even more capable products into the 21st century.
